About

Lee Evans - Independant Journalist and Writer

OK, right off the bat, don't let the TITLE scare you off. It's only a label to describe what I do and is only a part of me not all of me. When some folks hear I am a journalist I can just imagine the thoughts that must run through their head. I do have a life outside of my work. So let's just get some formalities out the way people. I only have two house rules and you will be in loads of trouble if you break it. Santa WILL know about it! Please do not use or copy any content without my permission, if you care to do so please post a link back to this site and fully credit your source.  So with that out of the way, read on to find out a bit more about me.......

I have a long held deep love and appreciation for the written word, reading and self- expression. I started writing when I entered my teenage years. I created numerous short fictional stories while listening to music on this super old record player my father bought for me. I wish I had kept them, I am sure now I would just read them and laugh but most of all it would give me a good recollection of me before I kind of lost my way in life.  Writing was my escape from things that were happening at home and school. At that time in my life I was not aware that many years later writing would be what I did for a living and I am so happy to be living my dream.

My main genre and interest now is Non-Fiction although I still dabble in fiction. I have just recently discovered that I am developing a deeper love of poetry especially Emily Dickinson. I recently read the great classics such as The Great Gatsby and Anna Karenina to name a few. I also LOVE reading from the philosophers way back when...... wish they were still around to run this crazy world we live in.

Someone once said to me, "Writing is not something I do, A writer is what I am". I really felt that at my core that is what I really am. I had my first piece published way back in a teen magazine, the genre, Poetry. Then I forgot all about writing and went in many other different directions that had nothing to do with writing!

This year, I decided to take the bull by the horns and embark uopn my writing career full-time. I am now currently writing for an independent newspaper, The South Sydney Herald as well as writing for other publications and have been published twice. I am thoroughly enjoying my position so far and getting to meet really nice people plus learning so much. It's a huge journey to embark upon but I am happy and that is what matters. I have just recently completed my course in Feature Writing for Magazines and Newspapers, that was a really big eye opener for me and I loved every moment of it.

I am enjoying growing and expanding along my my literary journey that is inevitable for each and every writer. I chose to create a website where I could share a bit more personally aside from my professional life which is still fun for me most of the time. It  is important to me to stay authentically connected to myself and others. In other words, keeping it real. One of the things I decided to stick by was not to lose myself in Journalism World and I will carry that with me throughout my career and life. As a writer and philosopher it is in my hopes and dreams that my readers lives become richer, that you find new meaning every day along your own personal journey through this life. So pull up a chair or pillow and relax in the parlour.  Happy reading!
